Col Duro / Quattro Tabià

Ideal for: easy walking, nature

⭐ Ideal for: easy walking, nature
📏 Distance: ~4-5 km
⏱️ Duration: ~2 h
🔎 About 1 km before the Forcella Cibiana pass on the SS 251, in the locality of Quattro Tabià, a small dirt road with obvious signposts (q. 1475 m ) starts to the left. Possibility of parking in a small clearing just beyond towards Forcella Cibiana.

We set out on the good dirt road, originally a military mule track now marked 494, that climbs with a slight incline cutting along the wooded SW slopes of Col Alto. Past a scenic clearing with a bench, the good mule track, in places carved into the rock, reaches the wooded Val Inferna pass ( q. 1748 m – 1.00 hrs – tables). Now ignore the trails that direct to Mt. Rite and the Talamini refuge, and continue left on a good trail with red markings. Follow at length the good little path always marked by red bolts, which continues through the vegetation along the ridge that stretches toward Col Dur. After passing two pasture clearings and circumventing an eastern shoulder to the N between mountain pines and rhododendrons, we reach a saddle below the summit. A characteristic dried-up tree in the shape of a crucifix makes a fine display here. With a short ascent, by track carved among thick mugo trees, we reach the spacious and very panoramic summit (q.2033 m – 1.45 hours).
